Demure is Overrated!

I cooked… a lot. We ate… a lot. Family left… without taking any leftovers! I have all the pie and stuff!
The Thanksgiving Menu: We did it sort of small this year because Kat and her family were in Mississippi so Christmas will be the bigger production.
JenNote: I am blogging this as I eat a slice of pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake with entirely too much extra creamy coolwhip topping.
Turkey (roasted)
Ham
Rice Dressing
Mom’s Potato Salad (homemade mayonnaise on that badboy)
Rice and Gravy ( Not turkey gravy ewww. Beef gravy made from what was once a seven-bone roast)
Homemade Mac and Cheese (a new thing for me and may I say it will be added to the list of Incredible things made for the first time without a recipe and that totally fucking rocks)
Green Bean Casserole (yeah, I know… it is soooo trailer park and I never make it. The hubby is a fan though and I love him enough to make white-people food for him. It rocked btw)
Rolls
Cranberry jelly
Apple Pie (Thank you Costco)
Pumpkin Pie (I love you Costco)
Pumpkin Cheesecake (I am soooo Costco’s Bitch)
Did some shopping yesterday and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be with the crowds. Came home and made a gumbo with the shrimp I didn’t use because I opted out of the Jambalaya this thanksgiving but mom had brought them anyway. Put some oysters, sausage, and turkey in the pot as well and it was perfection yesterday… today it will be staggeringly delicious.
Hit Target last night with the hubby and bought some Wii stuff for the kids, thankfully I got the console in the summer.
My training is coming up soon and I will be solo for a week! Wtf am I going to do for a week by myself in Houston? I haven’t been away from the kids that long ever, save last summer when mom had them for a while, but that was mom and I was home with the hubby working. I will be SOLO folks… I have never done this in my life! Sad and exciting all at the same time. I will probably be bored and whiney and blogging all about it in the evening from my hotel. I am hoping to catch up with Momotrips that week and solve all the worlds problems via bitching over good food. I mean seriously, between the two of us we have 7 children, there is nothing two broads from Texas who have survived their children’s toddler years cannot solve… right?
I am babbling, aren’t I?
Oh well, it is what I do.
Still working on a design for this site and haven’t decided what I am going to do yet. I will get there.
So that is all for now, have a fantastic weekend and I will be back!

World crisis intervention while dining – so chic! Parties are later this year, so I’m free. Can’t be Wednesday or Thursday, though (CCE and Choir for the kiddos) unless it is late. Hope we can get together!
Thanksgiving sounded yummy – similar to ours, although since we have lots more people, there was lots more food. I made carmelized onion tart, mock crab cakes and trailer-trashy pistacho nut pudding dessert, and that ramen noodle cabbage salad that I’ve modified with sesame oil and pignoli – it is WAY delish. We kind of had the same idea due to the weather for this week’s menu. Tortilla soup here instead of gumbo, but it’s all in the same warm, “soupy” family.
