I Have To Confess I Got A Bit Giddy When I Read This…

By jen

Now before you go to mocking me, remember I was an 8th grader in 1983 and this movie has one of the best soundtracks of all the movies made in that era.  Valley Girl to Be Made Into a Musical Using Much of The Original Movie’s Songs.

MGM has put a musical remake of its 1983 comedy “Valley Girl” into development, with Sean Bailey producing through his Idealogy Inc. banner.

Project’s based on an idea by Bailey and Idealogy’s Matt Smith, who will exec produce. The musical will utilize the “Romeo and Juliet” story of the original “Valley Girl” and sport classic ‘80s songs.

The original movie gave me my all abiding love of Josie Cotton’s Music and frankly every damn song in the movie makes me smile.  I am a sucker for the 80’s and goodness knows it was a cheesy movie, but who the hell cares?

You know what time it is?  Yes, that’s right!  It is 80’s music time!

Josie Cotton:  Johnny Are You Queer?

I fucking loved the Plimsouls

The Flirts:  Jukebox.   God, I can smell the aquanet and Love’s Baby Soft perfume.

Payolas: Eyes of  A Stranger

Sparks: Angst in my pants

More Josie Cotton:  School is In

Lastly, the most overplayed song of the last 30 years…

Modern English: I Melt With You
