See I have the same weird birth order thing in my family. My sister is almost 13 years older than I and married/started her family right out of high school at 17. My oldest niece is 5 years younger than I and my youngest niece 10 years younger. My nieces are closer to my age than my sister. Since I didn’t have my boys until I was 34, we won’t be empty-nesters until I’m 51 and then our house will go from five occupants to two overnight. In some ways that sounds awesome, but then again, pretty scary – particularly the paying for three tuitions simultaneously. We have discussed purchasing a condo in College Station/Bryan to generate some income and for them to live in from Soph. year on, but worry that they might not all make grades for A&M. Maybe we should purchase one in San Marcos, too as a back-up. Ha! If my brainiac boy actually achieves his goal of getting into Rice, he better get one hell of a scholarship and/or plan on a long commute from home.

The clean house sounds heavenly, though.

Had my two when I was 21 and 24 and figured that was enough.  That’s why I can realte to Plebian’s recent adventures. ;-)

Hon, I am so far from an empty nest I shudder to think on it.  My daughter will be well into her medical practice before her baby sister is graduated.  She will be 32 when daughter no. 4 graduates heh.   Husband and I was talking the other day about if i had not had the ten year gap between the first two, because the others are pretty stacked up.  We would be empty nesters in about 4 years.  44 and 43 with no kids.  He says, “Wtf would we do?”  I have no idea actually.  Other than have a clean house.
