Yeah John, my sister is a huge producer for ReMax and has friends in BCS - if we're ever ready for the plunge, she'll set us up with the best. I hadn't been through there in a few years and it is SO different. So many new homes and neighborhoods that weren't even there before. Isn't it one of the fastest growing communities in Texas? Gig 'Em!

There are a number of really good places to get like that in BCS, but the market down there changes pretty rapidly. Your best bet would be looking 2-3 years in advance with one of the better real estate companies down there (There's a local one that is particularly good.) to find a place that will be a new development and get it before it's built. Those places have crazy appriciation and by the time all your kids graduate (plan on 6 years for at least one of them!) it will still have good resale value!

Aw! Just took a spin through A&M a few weeks ago on a return trip from Dallas. I enjoyed LSU, but visiting A&M always makes me wonder what would have been different had I gone there as originally planned - it seems so friendly and full of pride. My niece graduated in '92, I think-she's all about the Aggies.

See I have the same weird birth order thing in my family. My sister is almost 13 years older than I and married/started her family right out of high school at 17. My oldest niece is 5 years younger than I and my youngest niece 10 years younger. My nieces are closer to my age than my sister. Since I didn't have my boys until I was 34, we won't be empty-nesters until I'm 51 and then our house will go from five occupants to two overnight. In some ways that sounds awesome, but then again, pretty scary - particularly the paying for three tuitions simultaneously. We have discussed purchasing a condo in College Station/Bryan to generate some income and for them to live in from Soph. year on, but worry that they might not all make grades for A&M. Maybe we should purchase one in San Marcos, too as a back-up. Ha! If my brainiac boy actually achieves his goal of getting into Rice, he better get one hell of a scholarship and/or plan on a long commute from home.

The clean house sounds heavenly, though.

Scary thought isn't it Jen? Corrupting the youth in all your demureness. Of course I was corrupt before I ever went to A&M. Damn Catholic schooling.

I can somewhat relate but the kid point of view. I'm the oldest, my sister is 10 years younger and my brother was born when I was 17.

Had my two when I was 21 and 24 and figured that was enough. That's why I can realte to Plebian's recent adventures. ;-)

Faith+1,

Hon, I am so far from an empty nest I shudder to think on it. My daughter will be well into her medical practice before her baby sister is graduated. She will be 32 when daughter no. 4 graduates heh. Husband and I was talking the other day about if i had not had the ten year gap between the first two, because the others are pretty stacked up. We would be empty nesters in about 4 years. 44 and 43 with no kids. He says, "Wtf would we do?" I have no idea actually. Other than have a clean house.

Daughter just graduated this past May. Son just finished his freshman year at LSU. He goes back this week. There are pros and cons to the empty nest. I miss them a ton, but some days it is nice to have the freedom.

Class of '04 (Whoop!) and loyal reader right here to help. FWIW A&M was the best decision of my life and an amazing and formative experience. Best of luck to your daughter!
