I frequently say “ax” instead of “ask” even when I shouldn’t. I do it very deadpan. That’s the secret. The people who actually notice it don’t comment on it. ...Except for you, of course. =)

My pet peeve is northerners trying to say “y’all”. They botch it every time. Just don’t. And for language god’s sake the plural is NOT y’alls. Every Southerner knows it’s “all y’all”. As in, “All y’all need to come over for supper and tell your mom-n-em to come too.
If you ask what mom-n-em is I swear I’ll start reaching for something heavy….and blunt.
