Sexism Randomness…

By jen

I am watching O’Reilly and Megyn Kelley and some Lawyer broad who wrote a book are going on and on about how Palin is being treated.  My first reaction to sexism in general is meh…  I think in most instances women are pretty much on an even playing field with men, but in politics I will have to say it just isn’t so.

O’Reilly says, “Is this the men trying to keep women down?”

I began the words and Megyn completed them before I could by pointing out it was women doing this as well.  This was very blatant with Hillary, who for the record I despise, even I had to admit that.   I wrote that off to just typical leftist bullshit though.  They had a new sparkly object to admire and chase after in Obama and well we are well acquainted with the attention span of the average liberal.  It roughly matches that of a gnat. No one really confronted Hillary on overly personal stuff though.  The media, though emboldened by the warming glow of their shiny object of worship, understand if you push a Clinton too far you will probably end up bunking next to Vince Foster.

The media does not have that issue with regard to Gov. Palin it seems.  It is simply amazing and the media isn’t even trying to cloak the sexism.  O’Reilly says they are just trying to marginalize her to ensure Obama’s win.  Perhaps, but they would never have gone after a man on these issues.   It would have not even occured to Olberdouche or Whoever to ask about how a male would father an infant with Down’s Syndrome.  They wouldn’t have asked how he intended to deal with five children.

The thing is, all women who profess to be feminists and I am talking about the hardcore granola bitches like Naomi Wolfe, Steinhem, Fonda, etc, they are absolutely insane to not vote McCain simply to vote a woman into the job.  But you would have to assume what the feminist icons are after is female equality and that isn’t true.  They are for a liberal world where they are under the delusion that will give them equality as a positive bonus.  Seriously, these bitches should be burning something or peeing on something in unison for all this obvious sexism.  Are they?  Not so much.  They are busy searching out “Men at Work” signs and finding hidden sexism in twinkie ads.

just sayin’....

Not feeling very Demure today.

I’m not feelin’ Sarah… I can’t take her hairdo seriously – I mean, that’s how I wear my hair to the grocery store and Little League games. Sure, she looks like she could be me best girlfriend, but I don’t picture my best girlfriend in the White House. She lacks gravitas. Besides that, I have serious issues with her lack of major experience. I’d have been happier with Lieberman, for crissake.

And yeah, I’m sexist when it comes to being a mom – probably why I identify Conservative. My sister already accused me of that today about this topic. I realize that women can do just about anything men can do and are just as intelligent. I also realize that some women can work and juggle their job and family and be successful at both, however, with a job the size of VP (or Governor, for that matter) with a family the size and age and with the circumstances of hers, she is needed by her kids. Hell, I wouldn’t even want my husband to give as much time as she’s going to have to if she gets the job. We made the decision to have kids and they need both parents. She and her husband made the decision to have kids and they need both of their parents – sacrificing four to eight years out of their lives is crazy. She has a special needs infant and a teenage daughter that has gone off the track. And yes, that can happen to kids of the best of parents, but it happens less seldom to those who are vigilant and present. If she were a mature woman with grown or practically grown kids it would be different, for me anyway.

Her family circumstances really don’t have anything to do with the whole WTFitude of the whole situation, though. Has McCain just decided “Fuck it! I don’t want to be President, I’m gonna pick the worst possible running mate and sit back and drink a cold one.” Maybe he was shocked that he actually made it this far and freaked out.

Wow talk about proving the point of the articles, thanks trips.

Sorry that’s article singular.

Cowtipper – You think most conservative women don’t agree with me? Particularly those that have kids? Trying to work a regular job with kids is difficult, even if you have all the right help. Hired help is no substitute for parenting by a child’s actual parents. I don’t fault any woman who chooses to be a working mother, whether it is out of necessity or for self-fulfillment. However, most jobs don’t end up with a chance of being POTUS, either. I also know what it’s like to have a child with special needs – and believe me, my child’s special needs are nothing compared to hers – and I need to stay on top of his well-being at school, etc., on a constant basis. We all have the right to judge our government servants for the choices they make. I just don’t see why I have to pretend  I think that her nomination is a great idea JUST because she’s a woman. There are a lot of much more qualified women that McCain could have chosen from if having a woman for his running mate was his choice – women that have a lot less crap for everyone to bitch about. For some reason he chose someone whom he apparently didn’t anticipate would cause such a backlash. If he only chose her because of her politics, he didn’t think it through, because her politics is getting overshadowed. The same thing would have happened if he had picked an unknown man that ended up looking like he hadn’t been vetted correctly, either.

And yeah, women are going to judge her because that’s what women do. Sad fact.

Since she seems to be a good speaker, I’m interested to see what she has to say tonight.

Not only do i disagree with you, but here in the heart of the bible belt the conservative base has been energized. The same christian community who only a month ago was talking about not voting, is now eager to vote. My own mother, who stopped being a nurse to raise two boys is hog wild for her. My parents who have been deeply relgious their whole lives are once again interested in politics. My brother the missionary who lives in Poland, is deciding for the first time to apply for an absentee ballot. We like her because she repersents us, the gun toting, pro-life, God believeing Americans. So in short to answer you, no I dont believe you. Judge all you like, but when we have drive through abortion clinics, gay education in schools and a welfare state the likes we have never seen before, I hope that you remember this post.

” Judge all you like, but when we have drive through abortion clinics, gay education in schools and a welfare state the likes we have never seen before, I hope that you remember this post.”

There you go down the slippery slope…

I never said I wasn’t going to vote for her/McCain – I’d rather sell my children than vote for Obama. Why when people disagree they always have to resort to this tactic? How does my questioning her commitment to her kids automatically lead to drive-thru abortion clinics? Conservatives are going to vote for their ticket no matter who is on the ballot. I will tell you that my vote for McCain is more a vote AGAINST Obama. Tell me that’s not a popular feeling among conservatives this election year.

And yes, she does represent  “us”, no doubt. However,  my argument was that she is getting judged for being a woman with young children and taking on a job that will essentially keep her away from them for the better part of four to eight years. That, as a mother, I see as a problem. That’s what the hubbub is about. This is an entirely different issue as to her qualifications. Hell, she could be the best, most qualified candidate EVER and I’d still have the same opinion on this subject.

As to her qualifications, I also see that she has very little experience that prepares her to be President – and that’s what being VP is all about, the potential at any moment to become President. Realistically, that hasn’t stopped others in the past from taking office, that’s for sure. Also as I stated previously, she lacks gravitas. That is my opinion. I freaking hate Hillary Clinton, but you gotta give the broad her due – she has gravitas in spades. On the other hand, disregarding the entire family issue, Palin may have some very fresh (or stale if you’re a liberal) ideas and a unique perspective that we may all learn about. Tonight. When she speaks. Like I said. She could change my mind about her qualifications, but she won’t change my mind about the fact that I think this is bad timing for her kids. Call me sexist. Fine. I had a high-powered job, too, but gave it up to have kids. Best decision I ever made.

No one likes to have their shit jumped because they have a differing opinion. Can we agree to disagree?
