Palin Thoughts and Stuff…
[Ramesh Ponnuru]
In my initial list of pros and cons on the Palin pick, I underestimated the pros and overestimated the cons. Among the pros, I neglected to mention the possibility that she would have a capacity to connect with ordinary people that few of her politico peers do…
...Finally, I did not foresee how vicious the reaction in some quarters of the left, and of the media, would be.
I thought her lack of experience in dealing with national issues, including foreign-policy issues, was a serious strike against her. I still do. I cannot say that I am confident that she would be “ready on day one” to be commander-in-chief. But I cannot say that about Obama, either, and I like my odds better with the McCain-Palin ticket than with the Obama-Biden one.
Emphasis mine, of course. I would take this one step further. I think anyone is more prepared than an Obama/Biden ticket.
For instance, I would be totally prepared on day one. Seriously…
Foreign policy and national security?
No problem… bomb the shit out of all of them and have a nice long soak in the tub while getting after action reports from some designated hot navy special forces type on a giant plasma screen mounted on the wall in front of the tub.
Taxes?
10k per child per household standard deduction. No more freakin’ earned income tax credit if you are not freakin’ working except a few weeks a year in order to be able to take the damn credit. Fuck off. But then I am not exactly a humanitarian lately… I had to write a check to cover everyone else’s shit last year like many of you guys who actually work.
Corruption?
Seriously… this is me talking. Something tells me between my mad skills at condescension and bitching in general as well as my desire to punch people in the throat I think I have this covered. If not I have friends who I feel certain would stand in line to take care of this for me.
Just sayin’... The Demure One
