Ok… I Baked Something To A Good Result…
Miracles never cease… maybe McCain can win!
I wanted cobbler. Do not ask why… I just did. So I hit the google machine woo woo. Problem number 1? I do not bake so it had to be easy. I have documented my efforts at baking before; exibit A: Satan’s Barbed Cake.
But I was determined to find something that was in my comfort zone and I found a winner…
7up Cobbler! Of course I didn’t follow the directions entirely, but it still worked.
Recipe:
1 yellow cake mix
2 cans pie filling
1 can 7up
Ok, I didn’t have two cans pie filling I had one apple pie filling… BUT! I had some frozen berries for this disgusting protien shit my husband drinks. I used what is probably two cups of black berries and cranberries thawed.
Spread the apples, topped with fruit in my 9×13 glass baking dish. Well, I was concerned about the lack of syrup since I had only one can of filling which is mostly sugar so I added a little bit of coco lopez coconut goop (which looks like spooge.. just sayin’) and a little squirt or two of caramel sundae topping. I felt better after that. When in doubt add sugar! I also have pecans so I tossed those on top the fruit.
I covered it with the box of cake mix (dry) and poured a Sprite over the top. Yeah, I didn’t have a 7up. It was sprite or orange fanta and I am not that adventurous. Baked it for 45 minutes at 350 and VOILA! It is so fuckign sweet I nearly cry when I eat it. LOVE IT. Sent hubby to get some Blue Bell Vanilla ice cream and mmmm good stuff.
I did it! I baked something and it isn’t sad!
Gig ‘em McCain!

My cavities hurt just reading that. I’m going out to the kitchen to get some pumpkin pie. You guys have pumpkin pie in Texas or is it a regional thing?

I use to consider Pumpkin pie my one really fantastic baking trick. The only thing I could make that was perfect. I stopped making them about 4years ago when we go ta costco and I tried their pumpkin pie. $5.99 for like a 12in pie that tastes just like mine! So yes, we get pumpkin pie here, sweet potato pie too if you are lucky. We like pie in texas.

How totally weird. I just made the same thing (albeit by my old-time recipe). However, my recipe calls for melted butter instead of 7-Up. I always half it – one pan cherry and one pan peach. I just had a wild hair the other night – I hadn’t made it in years. I forgot how damn delicious it is. As a matter of fact, my husband just asked me to get him his last serving. Yum. Food of the gods.
Two cans pie filling
One box white cake mix
Sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup melted butter
Bake until brown and bubbly
Eat warm with your favorite vanilla ice cream

found you from link from some other site awhile ago. was tickled by your attitude and how/what you write about and so made you favorite on home page so I can one-click to some giggles and some attitude.
thanks!!
p.s. I was without cooking amenities for 18 yrs. (company housing) am just now trying to cook stuff and am having a good time (and sometimes it tastes good too!) experimenting. Hmm. I think I’m gonna try a cake mix next. :>

Made this last night and it was terrific. Everyone loved it. I used a can of cherry pie filling, one can of apple pie filling. A box of yellow cake mix and 12oz of 7UP.
So easy. Thank you, Jen
