I am old enough, and cute enough, to allow the trafficy bullshit to happen without drawing a weapon.

If they push it now....

The wave I can live without. What's getting really annoying is when you're driving on the two-lane roads with a nice big shoulder and the jerk in front of you doing 45 won't pull the f*** over. Every time I'm on 285 going to Falfurrias there's some fool blocking the lane. I could sort of understand this with out-of-staters, who aren't familiar with Texas etiquette, but more and more it's Texas-plated vehicles doing this, too.

Speaking of PC.....here is my "story" that happened just this week.

So it's Monday. Right away it's going to be a bad day. I hate Mondays. I've got a headache, my hip is killing me and the office coffee pot was empty. I started a fresh pot, went pee and by the time I got back some coffee-stealing-lazy-ass-office-slugs had drained the pot and didn't start another one. I was in a mood to say the least.

That was the moment one of my developers decided he wanted to talk to me. He's a decent engineer. Smart, does good work, but can be a handful at times. He chose this day to be all touchy-feelly and and wanted to talk about something.

We sit down and he starts, "Boss, I don't feel the other team members appreciate me and the other day John bumped into me and didn't apologize. Linda is helpful, but she gets this annoyed look if I ask her too many questions. Tony and Juan are always speaking Spanish and I know they are talking about me and I want your advice on how I should handle this."

I just sat there looking at him. Blankly. I couldn't believe he was actually bringing this kind of shit to me. I really should have had that first cup of coffee and maybe an aspirin or two before talking to him. I might not have been so harsh. Finally, I couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Well, I think you should grow a set of balls and do your fucking job, tell them you are tired of their shit, and quit whining to me, Princess."

All-in-all, not a bad summation, but you won't find that wording in any management books. I probably should have thought it through a little better. He actually started to cry and headed out the door. I waited for the inevitable call from HR. It came. I had to go get counseled.

I'm even more pissed now. Seems my "feedback mechanism" needs a little work. I'm not to use vulgarity. I shit you not, the HR Director said if I had said 'testicles' instead of 'balls', 'freaking' instead of 'fucking' and 'crap' instead of 'shit' they would have been OK with what I said. She didn't say anything about my calling him Princess.

Some days, I miss having UCMJ authority.

The death of courtesy and the rise of PC coincide. I never though of it that way before. Makes ya go hmmm?
I'm with you. I'm perfectly willing to let others go in front of me, hold the door, let them into traffic but the ungratefulness makes me see red.
So, for your sanity, consider me to be waving at you for the next fool you allow to merge.

I agree, but must add this.

I drive an SUV and the back seat windows as well as the back window are quite dark.
I don't know if people can see me wave Thank You, or not.

I sometimes tap the brakes twice for Thank You, and always hope they don't think I meant anything Else !
