Ten Things I Can Now Do To Stimulate the Economy As A Result of the $13 Raise from Obama
- I can have a pedicure every week… On one foot.
- I can finally buy that Swiffer I have had my eye on for so long.
- I can buy some of those fancy paper lanterns from IKEA but I will have to wait until week two to buy the lightbulbs.
- I can buy half a bottle of Port.
- I can take two of my kids to McDonald’s
- I can upgrade the kids lunch snacks to include Sun Chips instead of Doritos.
- I can buy the king size Hershey’s with almonds now instead of the regular.
- I can buy the Obama’s first couple of books in paperback and use them for kindling.
- I can save for a few months to buy that Klingon mask to complete my halloween costume. I am going as Michelle Obama this year.
- I can… oh who am I kidding? I cannot buy a GODDAMN thing.
You know who can will get some use of out it? Bill Clinton. He can probably buy at least three blowjobs from his regular gal for that.

I think that $13 a week will pay for our accountant. To do our stupid freaking taxes. That I shouldn’t have to hire a freaking accountant to do.

Hey, Alice…..$13 will get you on to E-470 so you can drive by the blue demon horse. Did you notice that the WSJ had that monstrosity on the front page last week, as well as a discussion of how many people in out here feel about it?

@darthlaurel – not only did I notice it, I posted my own picture of it. I like the horsie, in all its anatomically correct uncut glory. And my kiddos like it too.
People who have that strong of a reaction to it worry me. Especially when there’s so much other artwork in the airport that’s creepier. For instance, this. And this.
I suppose we’ll find out if Jen’s spam filter catches this one due to excessive linkage.

that is some very ugly art. garish colours and little subtlety…what the hell…is Russia selling off all their old commie-propaganda art?
I have never seen that stuff the times i have been in DIA…thank God.
And I know my kids would hate it, too.
The problem I have with the deamon-horse is the colour.
And honestly, for the widow to say that you can tell it was made with love just by looking at it…that is demented.
And my final objection, to all of that stuff, is that I do not believe in using public funds for art, or for “art”, in this case.

Denver has a mandatory ‘for public projects that cost over X dollars, Y percent has to be spent on public art for the project’. I don’t have a problem with it, but I am originally from a city that just didn’t do that sort of thing for a long time, so for me it’s a nice change. Now my hometown is doing things like ruining historically unique buildings to make them look like everything else. They just don’t get it.
And I like blue, so I don’t mind the horsie’s color. The horse kind of fits in with the whole “the airport is the bunker for the new world order during the armageddon” thing that DIA has going on.

Oh, I totally get that the art is forced on us by a government mandate. And I like blue, too….just less of it. And seriously, the red eyes ….that is stupid unless…UNLESS you are trying to make it look demonic. The body parts are fine….horses have those body parts and aren’t shy about it.
That is too bad about your home town. But seriously, it happens everywhere and always has.
And someday all those godawful industrial/institutional buildings of the 60’s and 70’s will be “historically unique” and I hope that future generations are cavalier about how they view them and pull that crap down.
It is sad, though, when small towns lose their character because outsiders (or insider government workers) want to make it look like every other place.
