Hubby told me a story today he got from a co-worker. This guy’s parents have some fucked up neighbors and their 8 year old is always running loose and unsupervised. The guy’s folks look after the kid often because they are good people. Hubby’s coworker was visiting his family and overheard the mother of the eight year old talking to her older child, a 17 year old girl, she says, “Honey, you should go ahead and have a baby now. It’s a good time. You can just have it at military hospital. It will only cost 20 bucks!”
Yes, you read that right. A woman, a mother (I use that term loosely) encouraging her minor child to get pregnant before she turned 18 because as a dependent of her military father she could have the baby for $20 bucks. Best part? The girl, 18 now and a mother, is pissed off because she cannot go out and party so she leaves the baby with her mother. Oh no, that puts a cramp in Grandmama’s style cuz she wants to go out and party too. So now they are always trying to pawn the baby off on this guy’s parents. OH. MY. GOD.
One more fucking reason to hate people. That makes me fucking nauseated.

I don’t get why it would cost 20 bucks—I had my son at a military hospital and it didn’t cost me a dime. Then again, I was a 27-year-old married woman, not some teenaged idiot girl. So maybe there was a “drain on society” co-pay?

I wonder how a military dad feels about his wife telling his underage unwed daughter to get knocked up. I can’t imagine he’s in favor of it. If he is, the military didn’t knock enough sense in to him.

No shit Jen. Tragically we have one of those now in our family. Actually it is the (on probation, they are living apart) s-i-l’s ex wifey – a real 20ish twit who has a sibling in jail and who lets the kids grandfather (well, step-grandfather- who knows what # he is) babysit the child and he just got out of jail. And big surprise – there appears to be something ‘medically’ wrong with the child. Can’ t decide if this is a DUH or Go Figure – but since grandma thinks cheetos and cola is the breakfast of champions – and since mommy can’t be bothered in her 20 something life to raise her own kids – they are in the process of raising another clueless, self-absorbed idiot. On the s-i-l’s dime. But of course this all came about as he thinks with his small head – waaay too often (and we are talking not Army here
)
Anyway – I pray that the daughter gets the job she just interviewed for so that her mind is not clouded by financial need – and I do grasp her desire to not be a serial marryier – however – he must grow up and as you say – find his sack.
Otherwise – I don’t see the poor child and the pathetic marriage resulting in a good future. And yes, his mommie was a single mom long enough to pussify him I do believe. Sad.
