Work Blows and Various Other Bitching

By jen

No, really… it does.  Once we get this Project Server deployed i never want to see another one again.  The way it installs makes no sense to me on any level.  I am a SharePoint person so you would think it would make sense being as it runs on WSS.  Right?  Noooo

I get that it is a separate application and all, but seriously why install with a http://domain/pwa and not give me access to the “Domain” part of that in the navigation?  Maybe I am too anal about this.  Maybe I just like shit to make sense.  I am going with the latter.  The best I can figure at this point is the damn thing is not only a separate application it is also in its own site collection.  Fine, but wtf  is the point of the main wss root site?  eh?  Why have it there at all?  Why do I care?  Because I guarantee you someone will forget to type the /pwa and will find a nice empty wss site and be “confused”  I cannot blame them!  Relax, Jennifer… you can just do a redirect so it just loops back over to the pwa part, right?  Sure, but that just rubs me the wrong way.  It is there, thus it should be used, dammit!  /end rant about Microsoft and my love hate relationship with the company.

The two middle girls are at the theater with hubby watching New Moon with all the other screaming girls in the county.  He txt me to say, “The lights just dimmed and the ceiling is cracking from the high pitched screams of the girls in the theater.  God love him, and better him than me.  I stayed home with the little one and ordered pizza and wings.  I watched the latest episode of Dexter and took a nice hot bath.  The only bad thing about evening for me so far is there isn’t a damn thing on tv now that I have caught up with Dexter.  I will probably get off this pc and work my puzzle for a little while.  God, I am so freakin’ boring.

Higher income taxes will have to be paid for addition troop support in Afghanistan!

First off… if I thought for one minute that a single cent of ANY tax increase would go to fund the troops I might say, ok… let’s suck it up and cope.  But seriously… what a douche.

Vatican says New Moon is a No No

Guess I need to go to confession or something since my kids are at the movie as we speak.  I have never understood this whole “occult” thing.  I honestly would rather than watching Twilight than another episode of Suite Life with Zack and Cody.  Ugh.

I honestly cannot read any more of this bullshit national news.  On to totally superficial things…

wtf happened to Heidi Klum?  I watched the finale of Project Runway and she looks a totally different person and not in a good way.  Gone are the smile lines which I personally think were pretty cool.  I first thought it was botox, but I honestly think she had an full blown eye job.  Ugh.  Eye jobs rarely look natural in any way.  Her efforts to “retain youth” has actually made her look about 10 years older.  Should have kept the laugh lines, she was lovely.

Anyone watching White Collar?  I find it quite fun and while I am not a fan of pretty men, that is one seriously sexy actor.  I wonder if he has hip thingie?

My love of Fringe is growing by the week.  I am a fan and if you do not watch it, shame on you.  Between Fringe and Glee I am starting to love Fox again.

Dexter is a great show, though Rita’s character gets on my nerves a LOT of the time.  I watched Fringe the first season, haven’t been able to watch the second. Is it better than season 1?

Happy that you’re back Jen!  Get the youngster healthy help her stay that way.  Can’t get in to Dexter, but I’m all over NCIS.  Server 2k8 and sql server 2k8 are fun too!

First, welcome back Jen!
Second, Dexter rocks, has always rocked, and will still rock in syndication. Ignoring the whole “ends justify the means” ethics debate, I thinks it’s totally appropriate that serial killers end up in tiny pieces inside garbage bags dumped off the Florida coast. Capital punishment elevated to Justice.
And Fringe? More Observers? And Walter reads the language? And one commits suicide to make some obscure chick “important”. How can you not watch?
Anyway. Obama bows, Sarah wows, and Blue Dogs suck, and how.
Later

Indiana Dave:  I think it is as good as season 1 and getting better.  Walter amuses me greatly.  Rita annoys the fuck out of me.  The sister is funny as hell.  I think she is actually his wife.  Or at least that is what someone told me.

Brad: I work DoD 2k8 should happen some time in 2k12

Dewayne: I agree about Dexter.  I thought season two was not great.  John Lithgow this season is just super creepy.  what’s not to love in fringe?  hmmm the only thing that annoys me is the sister of Olivia but she seems pretty scarce.

When the first DaVinci movie came out and the Vatican was saying don’t see it, someone at a message board I frequent stated that they were Catholic and the Catholic church ought to realize that every time they say don’t view something, a huge number of Catholics make a point of watching it.
So the Catholic church should just stop telling Catholics Not to view this or that movie cause they’re just giving it free advertising.
I’m not Catholic, but I have to agree it’s free advertising when they do that.

OMG….I Love Dexter and now I’ve missed I don’t know how many new episodes this fall. Just had a lot going on and I can’t believe I have missed this.
It’d be odd watching John Lithgow be serious again and creepy after he did such a Genius job at portraying Dick Solomon on 3rd Rock which I loved so much I have it all on DVD.
How do I catch up on all that I’ve missed this fall ?

I have two Win 2K8 servers running here at the house…2008 Web server (just to see how it does), and my storage server is 2008 R2, available in 64-bit only.  I don’t have very many issues with the servers themselves.  Software, on the other hand…I have Backup Exec 12.5 and it is not strictly compatible with 2K8 R2.  You have to use the remote agent (not a problem since my 2003 SBS server runs Backup Exec), but you have to have a variety of updates to make it work, and then I have found it very touchy.
I haven’t messed with Project server at all, however, I did at one point get Sharepoint server up and running.  Biggest pain in the backside to do it.  Oh well, it was a learning process.
As for New Moon…ugh.

I am out – way out – of this conversation.
Computer speak – causes my eyes to glaze over – I hear it daily here as hubby is computer geek – love it as I can talk, so to speak,  to the world, could do without the ‘instructions’.
Don’t do any of those shows – NCIS and Food Network are my favs – but do admit – my guilty pleasure is America’s Next Top Model – for what reason I have no clue at all.
I don’t do movies – cheapo skinflint and hate that they are charging an arm and a leg for mostly stuff I am sorely disappointed I spent a dime for much less the confiscatory prices they charge. However, saying that – the last trip to see Star Trek (shows you how often I go) was worth the money.
DeWayne – I am going to post your great line everywhere I go – makes more sense than anything else I’ve read this week! And a damn site funnier.

NCIS is terrific too (only a HUGE crush on Abby).  Gibbs doesn’t seem to say much but he gets some of the funniest zingers.

I love Fringe and think it is one of the smartest shows on the air. Glee on the other hand is a guilty pleasure that I enjoy much more than I should.
Glad to see things are better with you and your family Jen.

New Moon?  I’m at least twenty years too old, and in possession of one penis too many.  It’s not for me, and that’s fine, but Kristen Stewart has a serious man-face.  See Swank, Hillary.
